Ghana, 1975: In the time since Angurius appeared even more kaiju have appeared, and the AMF have assigned a team to work to counteract each monster. The teams are brought together when an AMF device intended to chase off monsters instead draws them. The project was scrapped because of this but someone is trying to sell it to the highest bidders. The monsters have gathered for his infomercial and Ota will lose one of his closest teammates to stop him.
What they got right: There was an issue of Godzilla Legends which brought up the monster repellent device that became a monster beacon and it’s nice to see that idea used again. (Whether or not Legends or any other story takes place in this continuity is unclear.) The monster art is spectacular as usual.
What they got wrong: A whole new batch of characters are dropped on us, and they each seem explorable and could be good characters. With two issues left and the way time skips in this series that won’t happen so that’s too bad, even if it’s a necessity.
Recommendation: As usual I enjoy the minis more than the main series. This is really worth picking up.
